Going on a first date? I swear, it's the perfect movie with a combination of filth yet funny, romantic and touch of contemporary feel to it. Kudos to the Director Nanette Burstein for his concept of "Long distance relationship" as most of them find it tougher or rather hard to digest happening in our own lives ;)
Well, what made me watch this movie?? frankly nothing, all I expected was to maintain Sanity after the bad affair I had with “Eat Pray & Love” .The one reason I could fish out would be Drew Barrymore (Erin) as I am a great fan of her and once again, she has rocked with her awesome attitude, romance, funny acting which has made many more hearts to fall for her. Along with Barrymore, the cute looking Justin Long ( Garrett) a sweet chap who has equally performed to make this movie breezy and romantic one.
As the movie names goes, this movie is about an exclusive relationship between Drew Barrymore and Justin Long staying miles apart. Not too many characters and that makes my job easy to make it very short and sweet. Erin (Barrymore), who works as an intern for New York Times Newspaper bumps into this guy Garrett( Justin) in the bar, and love happens over a mug of beer, centipede and breakfast the next morning...Their chemistry sparks a full-fledged summer fling, but neither expects it to last, once Erin heads home to San Francisco and Garrett stays behind for his job in New York City. The six weeks of their time spent together kind of makes it meaningful and neither is sure they want it to end. Then comes 2 jerks Box & Dan(Garrett's buddies) have tried to their best to make the crowd laugh at their filthy, shitty conversations. That's the only reason for the movie to have an "A" Certificate I believe and if you are expecting anything more, no guys, this ain't that vulgar..:) Moving forward I surely have to appreciate Erin's married sister Corinne (Christina Applegate),high-strung, overprotective who wants to keep Erin away from all this shitty mess and take the job offered by the Chronicles newspaper at San Francisco. But despite the opposite coasts, the nay-saying friends and family, and a few unexpected temptations, the couple just might have found something like love, and with the help of a lot of texting, sexting and late-night phone calls, they might actually “Go The Distance”.
Back to the performance’s, there is absolutely no "Wwwwwwooooooohhhhhh" factor. All have done their job well and the whole fun part lie's in the foul mouthed...No catchy beats/music in the movie which was disappointing unlike Love Actually/Music & Lyrics and my list will go on…..But a good break after watching EAT,LOVE, PRAY which was a near to horrible experience.
Overall it’s a Feel good movie especially for girls and does give you a positive hope that Love does work no matter how far you are from each other.
.
Don’t miss it!! Going the Distance is a youthful romance for grownups, yes that’s correct I meant Grown Ups J .
